The Carmen Thyssen Museum in Malaga is celebrating the fifth edition of the ’Music in the Courtyard’ concert series, which will take place between June 29 and July 27 and will feature performances by Zenet, Alba Armengou, Club del Río, and Nico Roig.
Jazz, folklore, and independent music will take center stage through the unique personalities of the artists in the series: Zenet, who will kick off ’Music in the Courtyard’ on Saturday, June 29, Alba Armengou (July 13), Club del Río (July 20), and Nico Roig, with Lucía Fumero, who will close the series with their concert on July 27.
The concerts, in collaboration with Cervezas Victoria, will start at 9:30 pm and ticket prices vary depending on the performance and seating area, ranging from 14 to 30 euros, as stated in a press release.
’Music in the Courtyard’ will begin on Saturday, June 29 with local artist Zenet. Antonio Mellado will perform a night where he will go through his most well-known repertoire, accompanied by guitarist Javier Olivares. Zenet has released several works where he has displayed his personal musical language, blending different styles rooted in jazz.
The series will continue in July on Saturday, 13 with the young singer and trumpeter Alba Armengou (Barcelona, 2001). Although her own musical project started in 2020 and she recorded her first solo album, ’Whispers of the Wind’, in 2023, Alba Armengou had already participated in over 30 albums by various artists and was part of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band.
On Saturday, July 20, it will be Club del Río’s turn. This Madrid-based band will present their latest work, ’All Around’, which explores new forms of expression and anticipates the new stage of the group, celebrating its tenth anniversary with seven musicians: Esteban de Bergia (vocals, guitar), Álvaro Ayuso (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Juan Serra (vocals, drums, percussion), Adriano Pezzi (guitar), Juan Feo (percussion), Jacobo de la Viña (bass), and Álvaro Baño (keyboards).
The ’Music in the Courtyard’ series will conclude on Saturday, July 27 with Nico Roig accompanied by Lucía Fumero. The artist from Barcelona will present his new album ’This Cold is Worthless’, alongside pianist and singer Lucía Fumero. Roig explores various traditional music from around the world and brings it to life with his ironic storytelling style.
