Vain yksi suihku kullekin ja harvat uimarit

Barcelona has inaugurated the high season of beaches this weekend, with only one open shower in each, in compliance with the restrictions due to the current drought phase. This is the same amount as last summer when the lack of rain also forced rationing. The start of the high season has also been characterized by a low presence of bathers, as the sun has been less splendid on Saturday and Sunday in the Catalan capital. Since the beginning of the weekend, the new extensive service schedule from 10 am to 7:30 pm is active, and will be maintained until September 11 on all beaches except Bogatell, Nova Icària, Somorrostro, Barceloneta, Sant Miquel, and Sant Sebastià. These will keep it until October 27 to accompany the activities of the America’s Cup of sailing, as reported by the City Council.

From September 11, at Llevant, Fòrum baths, Llevant, Nova Mar Bella, and Mar Bella beaches, the mid-season device will be in operation until September 29. At Llevant beach, as usual, the dog area has been set up, covering 1,500 square meters and adapted to the needs of the animals. The Lifeguard Service has expanded its operation to 54 agents, who will be distributed among the 21 surveillance towers from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm every day. With the aim of making the beaches more inclusive spaces, the entire area has parking reservations and accessible routes, signage and visual, tactile, and auditory information, adapted toilets, and wooden walkways that reach near the water. In addition, the assisted bathing service is also available, with three points at Sant Miquel, Nova Icària, and the Fòrum bathing area, which have specialized technical personnel. There are also 24 information points on the sand from 10 am to 8 pm. Likewise, there is a Purple Point at the Bogatell breakwater that offers a service of awareness, prevention, and assistance for macho and LGBT-phobic violence. It will operate from 10 am to 8 pm until September 11 and from then until October 27, from 12 pm to 6 pm. During the high season, the beaches have hammocks, umbrellas, and 13 open beach bars.
