Säätiön Unicaja ’Vanhan ja kamarimusiikin sykli’ alkaa torstaina Malagassa italialaisilla 1600-luvun teoksilla
The first musical event takes place on Thursday, May 23 at the Unicaja Foundation Cultural Center in Malaga

The Unicaja Foundation inaugurates a new edition of its traditional cycle of ’Early and Chamber Music’, which kicks off this Thursday, May 23 with a recital of works for violin, sackbut, and basso continuo from the 17th century Italian music by the Capilla de Música Maestro Iribarren. The musical event will take place at 7 pm and access to the center will be with a solidarity donation of three euros.
The repertoire will include works by Dario Castello, Giovanni Paolo Cima, Giovanni Battista Riccio, Biagio Marini, Giovanni Picchi, and Marco Uccelini, and will be performed by Caridad Martos on baroque violin, José Martínez on sackbut, and Antonio del Pino on organ.
This year, the cycle will engage Iribarren with his contemporary Pedro Rabassa and the secular chamber compositions of classic style from the late 18th century and the Madrid court environment with works by Canales and Brunetti. Additionally, it will address artistic styles from the Italian repertoire of the 17th century and the European center of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The program for this Thursday starts with ’Quinta sonata a doi’ (Sonata concertate in still moderno. Libro I, 1621) by Diario Castello; and continues with ’Sonata per cornetto ovvero violino & trombone’ (Concerti ecclesiastici, 1610) by Giovanni Paolo Cima.
Also to be performed are canzon ’La Fineta’, canzon ’La Savoldi’ and canzon ’La Picchi’ by Giovanni Battista Riccio; Sinfonia 2, ’La malipiera’ (Madrigali et symphonie, op. 2) by Biaggio Mrtini; and Canzon terza (Canzoni da sonar con ogni sorte d’strumenti, 1625) by Giovanni Picchi.
To conclude, the Sonata seconda ’La bucefalasca’ (Sonata, arei e correnti, op. 3, 1642) by Mario Uccelini; and ’Sesta sonata a doi’ (Sonata concertate in still moderno. Libro I, 1621) by Dario Castello.
