Marbella (Málaga) valmistautuu ottamaan vastaan lokakuussa kuudennen Ironman 70.3 -tapahtuman, joka on ennustettu loppuunmyydyksi
The municipality of Marbella in Malaga is getting ready to host the sixth edition of Ironman 70.3 on October 27, with a forecast of being sold out and a strong presence of local triathletes and clubs.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, along with the councilor Lisandro Vieytes, met with athletes Juan Antonio Gómez and Daniel Álvarez and the entities that compete in this sport, Grupo Serman Triatlón Marbella, Resiste 4, and Bike Philosofy, personally handing out invitations for them to participate in the event, as reported by the City Council in a statement.
The mayor emphasized that ”we have top-level athletes who have won prizes in similar competitions”, while also highlighting the ”success” of consolidating the combination of tourism and sports in ”internationally renowned events”.
Muñoz highlighted the ”great economic and media impact” of Ironman 70.3, which reached nearly 10 million euros last year, and mentioned that in 2025 ”we will become the first Spanish city to host the Vinfast Ironman 70.3 World Triathlon Championship”, bringing together more than 6,000 athletes from around the world.
”From the moment they offered us to host the event, we said yes and presented a very comprehensive candidacy that prevailed over other very strong competitors,” Muñoz explained, thanking the support of the Andalusian Government for organizing next year’s event and encouraging citizens to enjoy ”a unique event”. She also mentioned that Ironman 70.3 has been moved to October, from its traditional May date, ”so that the conditions are similar to those of the world championship”.
